Y-12 Re-compete_Small Business Goals

Many-Bears Grinder is the current commissioner of the TN Veterans Affairs and she has agreed to Town Hall style meeting with the members of the TVBA.

Information:

Date:  Wednesday September 14^th 2011

Time:  1pm – 3pm

Location:  Conference Room of Accord Federal Services –9737 Cogdill RdKnoxville,TN37932(Directions are below)

Our format will be a Town Hall type meeting where the Commissioner will speak for 30 minutes and the remaining time will be devoted to Q&A, and audience participation.

This is a great opportunity for our members to get involved with the Commissioner at the state level, hear the upcoming activities, and voice your concerns.

We would like to cover a wide range of topics, so if you have any questions please submit them in advance.

Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder

In January 2011, Governor Bill Haslam selected Many-Bears Grinder to be the Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs – the first female in the State to serve in this capacity.  She is responsible for the operation of the Department’s fourteen Field Offices, the Claims Office, and the fourStateVeteransCemeteries.  She is also an ex-officio voting member of the Tennessee State Veterans Home Board, which controls the three existing State Veterans Homes, and plans for future homes inTennessee.

Grinder retired as a Colonel from the Tennessee Army National Guard with over 35 years of service.  Her military assignments included Director of Logistics, Director of Personnel and Director of Property & Fiscal Operations.  She is an Operation Enduring Freedom Combat Veteran, having served for over ten months throughout the country ofAfghanistan.  Her military awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal.

Grinder holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from theArmyWarCollegeand a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development from theUniversityofTennessee,Knoxville.  She is a graduate of theArmyWarCollegeand theJointForcesStaffCollege.

Commissioner Grinder is a member of numerous military and veterans associations.   She resides inGallatin,Tennesseewith her husband, Ernie.

Military Background: Ken McBroom served with the Army’s 101st Airborne Div. in Vietnam where he was combat wounded and retired from the military. Mr. McBroom went on to earn 3 college degrees and was employed with Tennessee Valley Authority for 20 years, from where he was retired in 1997.

Military Background: Served in the USN as a Quartermaster 2nd Class on Board the USS Forrest B Royal
after basic training and QM School from July 1952 to July 1960. Made a world cruise with time spent off of Korea. Had 4 years inactive reserve.

Hold a PHD in Real Estate.
